The town of Middletown Springs has an interesting origin story: the towns of Poultney, Ira, Teignmouth, and Wells were all separated by mountains and in an era of horse and buggies, it was hard to get from home to the town centers. The residents of the four towns petitioned the legislature to merge into a single town. The town's surveyor was originally from Middletown, Connecticut, and was allowed to name the new town after it. When a mineral spring was discovered in the 1800s, the town was rebranded to try and attract tourists. VHS Executive Director Steve Perkins and ABC 22 & Fox 44 Anchor Mike Hoey head down to check it out.
