Albert Gutterson
While Vermont is known for producing a number of winter Olympians, it also has its share of athletes who competed in the Summer Olympics as well. One such figure is Albert Gutterson, who was born in 1887 in Andover. Growing up in Springfield, he attended the University of Vermont and graduated in 1912, where he was known for his skills as a track and field athlete. He competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, where he earned the Gold Medal for Long Jump, setting a new world record of 7.60 meters at this event.
