General Edwin Little
Edwin Little knew that he wanted to fly from an early age: he took lessons from a local pilot in town, and when the US entered the Second World War in 1941, he joined the US Army to train as a pilot. During the war, he was assigned to the 8th Air Force, where he flew B-17 bombers. Over the course of the war, he took part in 25 bombing missions over Europe. After the war, he flew missions during the Berlin Airlift, and then rose through the ranks to become a general in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War.
