Museum Research Collections

The Vermont Historical Society collects and preserves over 30,000 artifacts that were made by, used by, or otherwise associated with the lives of Vermonters.

Each artifact represents a moment in time and tells a story about Vermonters who came before us. The collections range from prehistoric archaeological artifacts to fine art to contemporary household items.

Most collections items are housed at the Vermont History Center in Barre. Collections are available to researchers by appointment from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
