Internships, Fellowships & Awards
The Vermont Historical Society offers a number of fellowships and awards for students and scholars engaged in the study of Vermont History.
Here are our current fellowships and awards:

Ben Lane Award. Awarded for the best article published in Vermont History over a span of two volumes.
- COVID-19 Project Assistant Internship. A $3,000 stipend to support the Collecting COVID-19 oral history project.

Geiger Fellowship. Awards stipends of $1,500 for rising high school junior and senior students for summer work related to the collections, archives, and exhibits of the Vermont Historical Society.

New England Regional Fellowship Consortium. VHS is a member of this consortium, which offers grants for a minimum of eight weeks of research at participating institutions.

The Richard O. Hathaway Award. An annual award presented to an individual, group or organization recognized as making an outstanding contribution to the field of Vermont history.

Weston A. Cate, Jr., Fellowship. A $1200 fellowship offered every other year to encourage research in Vermont history
