Daniel F. Cooledge Diary

Daniel F. Cooledge's GravestoneDaniel F. Cooledge was born in Ludlow, Vermont on December 3, 1839. He enlisted in Company A, 2nd Vermont Regiment on October 16, 1861 and served as a private until September 16, 1862. He was wounded received at Savage's Station, Virginia during the Seven Day's Battles, taken prisoner and exchanged on July 22, 1862.

The Civil War diary of Daniel F. Cooledge was for the year 1862. It includes descriptions of engagements at Lee's Mill, Williamsburg, Golding's Farm, and Savage's Station, as well as an account of Cooledge's experience as a prisoner of war. This diary is in the collection of the Vermont Historical Society (MSC 197:1)
