Description
Medallion portion of a medal of honor. The medallion consists of a metal spread eagle with crossed cannons attached by two jump rings above a bronze star with an image of a woman in a toga beating a naked man with her shield. The back of the star is engraved with the inscription, "The Congress to Col. Wheelock G. Veazey. 16th Vt. Vols for distinguished gallantry at the battle of Gettysburg, Pa. July 3, 1863."
