Archaeology
Adjacent to the Leahy Library at the Vermont History Center in Barre is the Vermont Archaeology Heritage Center which serves as the central warehouse for artifacts and archives of Vermont’s past. The center is open to the public to explore our 13,000 years of history through exhibits, workshops, and lectures. The collection is currently based on more than 750 known archaeological sites, with reports and artifacts available to qualified researchers. It is managed by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, in cooperation with the Vermont Agency of Transportation and in partnership with the Vermont Historical Society.
